What Are Product Principles at Casi?

Product Principles at Casi serve as foundational guidelines that steer our product development process. They embody our core values—Future-oriented, Collaborative, User-focused, and Trustworthy—and provide a cohesive framework for making daily decisions. These principles ensure that every team member is aligned with our overarching guidelines, fostering a consistent and unified approach to creating products that truly resonate with our customers. 

Why Does Casi Have Product Principles?

At Casi, we aim to continuously enhance how we deliver value to our customers. While we draw inspiration from established best practices in product development—particularly Agile principles and the Team Topologies approach—we believe that a one-size-fits-all method doesn’t suit every SaaS company. So, we established our unique approach to building products. Together, we created these memorable and actionable guidelines to empower our teams to innovate and excel in their work.

So, What Are Our Product Principles? 

Think, talk, drive together

We believe that cross-communication and collaboration are the key to success in product development. Transparency in the teams, between teams, and toward our customers can help us identify problems early on. With the right communication we will be able to build our product using valuable feedback and a common understanding to improve our product.

In Casi, we think and talk together in a variety of ways and are continuously improving how this is done.

Examples are daily team standups, regular and ad hoc meetings between our teams, collaborative tools (like Slack), visualized Kanban boards and shared and transparent goals (OKRs). Customer involvement and frequent feedback loops are also important, and we are regularly in touch with our customers during development.

In Casi, we are also aware of the importance of psychological safety in our working environment. When we feel safe and supported in taking strategic risks, we are more likely to express new ideas. We encourage creativity, which, again, can lead to innovation.

Be our customer´s GPS

Like a GPS, Casi will deliver guidance, knowledge, and reliable technology to help our customers succeed in the evolving automotive industry. Our customers set the direction they want to take their business in, and we play a proactive role in getting them there. The Casi crew takes an advisory role, recommending the best course of action based on our experience and insights. We act as a GPS by giving them timely and relevant support and ensuring that their experience is smooth.

This principle also applies to the end users of our system in the form that we shall have a user-friendly and efficient system that is easy to navigate. And that leads us to our next principle.

Turnkey Solution

Casi’s objective is to be the better alternative to companies building their own tech. Customers are different, but our turnkey solution is built to accommodate their complexity. In addition, a customer gets the benefits of other customers' requirements as new functionalities are shared across tenants. With turnkey solution as one of our principles, we promise to build a product that solves customer and industry problems and also saves time for end-users.

Embrace change, be ahead of the curve

By embracing change, we believe that we will create innovation and progress. We should allow ourselves to see things from different angles. We are open to new ideas and approaches and constantly learn from our experiences. While we are open to change, we aim to be ahead of the curve. Looking forward and being aware of what is coming on the horizon can help us pivot quickly in this fast-changing industry.

Insight and data as fuel

At Casi, we take a data-driven approach. We examine, organize and display data in a way that creates more efficient services and better customer experience for the Casi tenants. Our data capabilities help customers make better decisions to improve their business. In addition to using 'internal data', Casi's radar of what is going on in the automotive industry ensures that external forces also are taken into consideration. Gathering data across all tenants is a key activity to ensure best practice product development at Casi.

Change your oil

We fuel up and move fast to continuously deliver value as one of our customers’ core systems. But to ensure the product remains stable, scalable, and secure, we also need to take the time to stop and "change the oil.” 

Our engine is made with state of the art technologies and methods that enable efficient maintenance checks for the Casi Crew, so as we’re developing the product, we’re able to expertly maintain the live product along the way. 

By automating processes and using the best materials, we’re able to continuously develop while minimizing the amount of time it takes for us to change the much-needed oil.

Crash tested reliability

We have a robust platform that our customers can trust. Speed is crucial, so we need to find a balance between new features and stability. We focus on designing, developing, testing and maintaining in a way that minimizes downtime and maximizes performance. We constantly monitor our systems to resolve potential issues before they impact end-users. And if any problems occur in production, we react fast, like an airbag, to solve the issues.

How Did We Implement Our Principles?

To ensure our principles are well-known and actively utilized throughout Casi, we took several key steps:

  1. Visualization: We created visual representations of our principles to make them more memorable and easier to communicate, both internally and externally.
  2. Company Assembly and Communication: We introduced the new product principles at a company-wide meeting and shared them on Slack to ensure everyone is informed.
  3. Article Publication: This article serves to share our principles broadly, providing both internal and external stakeholders with a clear understanding of our approach.
  4. Office Displays: We plan to print and display the principles prominently in our Casi offices as constant reminders of our commitments.
  5. Daily Application: We encourage all team members to refer to these principles when facing challenges or making decisions, ensuring they are woven into the fabric of our daily operations.

These Product Principles are designed to guide us forward, but they are not set in stone. We plan to revisit and refine them periodically to ensure they continue to serve as the best possible guidelines for Casi's growth and innovation.
